■Online Browsing Offers Draws Good Results

October 29, 2001--With traditional mail causing rising concerns and the agenda for "onlinebrowsing" being pushed by Amazon, this recent experiment may be of interest.
When Del Rey e-mailed 15,000 Terry Brooks fans a link to an online preview of the WORLD OF SHANNARA last week, 20 percent of those recipients responded in the first 24 hours alone. The preview runs on an applet using software from Real Read (this was the company's first large-scale demonstration with consumers).
