■Book browser company, RealRead Inc. opens Tokyo office
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 10, 2000--RealRead Inc., a B2B on-line marketing solution provider has established a sales office in Tokyo, Japan.
Yoshi Kitamura, founder and CEO of RealRead said: "Our service is language independent and is capable of handling different characters such as Kanji. Now we are getting more and more inquiries from Japanese publishers and on-line merchants and we decided to set up a sale office in Tokyo. Although Japanese publishers have been behind Americans in digitizing book contents, they are catching up and we are starting to feel that pressure. According to Shuppan Kagaku Kenkyusha, a research organization for the publishing industry, the 1999 total book sales in Japan was 993.6 billion yen which is about US$9 billion. I think Japan will be a great market for our product and it is going to be very interesting."
